Raspberry Pi OS won't boot on a Windows PC due to the completely different hardware architecture. Raspberry Pi Desktop for PC and Mac should. Thanks, however, I have a spare USB drive, not a spare micro SD. Could I flash rpiOS to that and live boot it on my Windows? then fix the micro SD card? I know this is possible was just wondering if the steps might differ mainly because I cannot directly boot from the micro SD card.
Some models of Pi are configured ex-factory to allow booting from a USB drive but as I don't know what model you have I can't say whether yours is one of them.
The steps after booting the clean OS are the essentially the same.
