I think there is a confusion in that thread regarding XIN and XOUT resistor, that 1k is on XOUT for driving the crystal, you don't need it anymore on XOUT, and on XIN wouldn't do anything good.
It should work as it is if placed very close, or with 33R for longer lines as Mike likes.![:)]( "Smile")
BTW RP2350 datasheet specifies input levels for XIN as 'Square Wave input. XIN only. XOUT floating", should be the same for RP2040 too.
