It would require a change in production processes though. And I can't really see that there would be much of a saving to the end user.

The Raspberry Pi SSD 256GB was retailing at £57.60 (source https://thepihut.com/products/raspberry ... 1047624065). The saving on the 500+ would be a lot less (probably no VAT and cost price not retail/wholesale) and if the purchaser later decides to add NVMe total cost will likely be higher than just buying the existing 500+.

Cutting RAM from 16GB to 8GB would be a bigger saving (based on the price difference between Pi5 variants) but does it then cease to be a premium product? It might even be a relatively easy change to implement given the reports that the mainboard of the 500+ is that of the 500 with added components.
