Sounds like you're running the 32-bit version of Raspberry Pi OS. uname is showing aarch64 because it runs the 64-bit kernel on a Pi 5. The rest of userland e.g. libraries is still 32-bit though.

This hurts my brain but I will not question that. I will give a try and report back.

Surely there was a good reason why that exists but I can't think of one lol
