Beginners • Waveshare Power Management HAT (B) Setup

I've recently bought the Waveshare Power Management HAT (B) https://www.waveshare.com/power-management-hat-b.htm
but when setting it up using the new OS for the PI 3 or 4, im getting installation errors.

on the WIKI page when im following these instructions :-

When i get to "RPI3B+/RPI4B Operating Steps" and then try and "make -j3" it errors when compiling
and if i continue and try the "Soft Shutdown Script" this also errors here "sudo ./Power-Management-HAT-Setup.sh"

Is anybody able to help ?
