I hesitate to even respond to your post your obvious computer skills are so many quantum leaps ahead of mine but I use the following radio application which comes as a flatpak on my raspberry pi. I have set 3 bbc radio streams as favourites within its' gui interface and last time I checked they were still working BBC 3, BBC4, and BBC4 extra. However from time to time they may stop working whereupon I delete the favourite and search for the new stream url in the interface provided and reset it as my new favourite..

It and like aplications use a gui interface to the Radio-Browser database of online radio streams:

On my Android ( Amazon) tablet I use radiodroid2 also based on Radio-browser very nice!

And on Windows I use TuneScape likewise

On all these apps you can export (or import) your radio streams as a m3u playlist and load them into another app such as vlc .

Hope this is of sone assistance to you or others. I am located in Canada and I bemoan the fact that BBC radio stuff like radio archives have becone very inaccessible in North America I might even pay a small annual fee to access the wealth of material in the bbc vaults. On youtube one can view a number of old episodes of the delightful 70's classical music quiz show " Face the Music " and one of the frequent guest panelists is a much younger David Attenborough (who acquits himself well) . A remarkable man and national treasure in my opinion. However none of us are perfect or without sin and I note on his wikipedia entry he admits as head of BBC 2 he authorized wiping of tapes for reuse which he very much regrets.
