For Charlie I would not try to make dhcpcd win on Trixie. Configure that one in NetworkManager and remove/comment the wlan0 static block from dhcpcd.conf, then reconnect. Something like nmcli con show to find the connection name, then set ipv4.method manual, ipv4.addresses 192.168.24.27/24, ipv4.gateway 192.168.24.1 and DNS as needed. After that, ip route should no longer show default via 192.168.24.246.

Thanks. The trouble I was having with the normal network configuration on Trixie is that it didn't seem to "stick".
In other words, I had already configured it for a static IP, using the GUI widget, but it still had "method=auto" in the configuration.
That's the only reason I tried to override it with dhcpcd.conf and wpa_supplicant.conf in the first place.

But I couldn't find the problem (method=auto) until I went digging in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections to find that - then (and only then) was I able to manually configure static IP correctly in the file for my SSID.
Now it's working.
