Troubleshooting • Ideas for pi 5s with bad pcie

I have two rpi5s 8gig, with bad pcie. They work with powered hats, but anything that gets it's power over the ribbon cable doesn't work. I'm currently working on an ai assistant with remote access points, an nas, a birdnet, pi hole, etc. in the event I can't get them fixed, any useful ideas for implementation? Seems a waste to use them for stuff a pi zero would do.
