I think you're missing my point as well.

My point is that as well as everything else it brings to the table Thunderbolt brings IP networking at no cost and with no additional hardware.

Take two computers (personally tested with Mac Mini M1, a Windows 11 PC, and a Surface Pro 9) connect them with a full feature USB C/Thunderbolt cable and you have a point to point IP network. No additional hardware or configuration necessary.

PC to phone is not the same thing.
