That seems correct to me.1. 3.3V VCC to the pico pin 36
2. GND to the pico pin 3
3. RX to the pico pin 1
4. TX to the pico pin 2 through a 1K resistor

Not exactly. The level on Pico Pin 1 output will determine how the sensor will process data which it sends via TX.From my understanding, the PICO used its UART TX pin to send the values to the sensor's RX pin.
That the manufacturer decided to call this digital input "RX" is unfortunate in my view because it doesn't require UART data to be sent to it. Having both TX and RX on a module or chip usually suggests a two-way serial link, but what this sensor has isn't. At least not from my reading of the documentation.
