So if any hobbyist on here has spent more on their scope than their car, perhaps you could share some shots...Has anybody put a very high speed scope on this effect ? I wonder if rather than it entering some latch-up state, it is in fact 'honking' at whatever the max frequency of the transistors is - probably lots of GHz. This would be seen as a current to most scopes and applying a resistance temporarily dampens the oscillation enough for it to stop.
This would explain how it got through post-layout simulation, and first run verification tests - initial samples were just slightly different after processing. And also possibly indicate that future runs may be ok once they've got rid of the 250,000 from this batch.
