In any case, I never trust the internal pull-ups/pull-downs in MCUs, they rarely sink/source the current you want. 0402 resisters are a tenth of a cent so add one.
This is an astonishingly poor suggestion.

Agree on the bad spelling, but not on the technique. Definitely the preferred way, and indeed the only way on many MCUs. And even if they are available you have to keep within the max total IO current of the device. External resistors are cheap and optimal.
Internal pull-ups are present precisely so that external resistors are not necessary.

External resistors cost board space, handling, potential to fail, inventory costs, etc.

With which of the "many MCUs" in existence are external resistors the only way to provide pull-ups?
