The newer one is in 'the' repo (Debian, which is the basis for PiOS 64)
If the pi repo version would still be relevant for PiOS it would undoubtedly have been updated sometime in the last 3 years...

Surely its the other way around, the Pi version wouldn't exist if it wasn't more relevant than the updated Debian version. RPi have made it clear they are trying to upstream as much as possible.

Although the Pi version is based on an older LibreOffice, I was trying to find the last time the Pi package was update which isn't so clear.

That makes it so hard to understand why there is a Pi version when Pi5/RP1 and Wayland has happened since without the need to update. I can only guess it was something relatively trivial like changing defaults for memory caching or something.

RpiOS still has the policy of any up-to-date card in any Pi which on occasions will bring things to the lowest common denominator.
